Mid-Atlantic Mortgage Modernizes Document Output This 20+ year mortgage provider was strapped with an in house loan correspondence and batch document printing system that was quickly being phased from the system vendor's support.  The system was developed in-house, was DFU-entry based, and ran queries over pre- built logical files. The results were then overlaid in the print process for both on- demand and night batch processes of various loan correspondence. Not only was the system being outmoded; it created unmanageable overhead processing issues for the company's night operators. ITSG was tasked to remove and replace the out-phased components, which consisted of the document engine and the on-demand and batch printing process.  The final solution removed the DFU-based user screens and replaced them with a simple set of CL commands. The document generation engine was replaced with a unifying document production technology that collected user data, combined it with information from the company's database, and merged it into Microsoft Word documents.  The system now processes against the production physical files instead of creating an interim set of logical files, which were then re-processed using a second query layer. A secondary document delivery system was then integrated to handle the generated MS Word documents--converting the documents to Adobe PDF, printed to specific printers, or was sent to a volume night process.
